My ALYoF August Finish

Crazy that my 'A Lovely Year of Finishes' August goal was a little bit harder to finish than I anticipated.

What made it difficult was that something else took over my design wall.

That and I took this down and had a bugger of a time finding the right placement again.  But here it is . . beautiful quilt top! 

So many thank you's to Jeni over at In Color Order for the fantastic tutorials as listed in the

Oh yes and she designed this fantastic fabric!  I'm so in love with Nordika!

I may have bought a wee bit too much.

The stash may have more solid fabrics now

It's feeling more serious around these parts.

 

First I had the lovely Leona supplied me with a range of lovely solids.

 

Gotta love when someone helps you with your fabric habit.

That helps with adding more color without more print.

Alright how about some solids for background and backings other than white...it's about growth for me!

Thankfully no fabric was harmed in the transport of these beauties!

Star Surround QAL ~ Surrounds

Have you seen the Quilt Along with Melissa with Happy Quilting?
Instead of people dropping off -  she's having more people join in.
Awesome!

This week we were working on the surround ... as I did the stars last week.

I broke it down to 3 surrounds a night.

I'm pretty disappointed with my flying geese. 
So I promptly ordered some bloc loc rulers. 
I can NOT wait to review these!
 

I love how these are turning out.  

It's amazing that this is sticking with me.
It's like Melissa has found the magic pattern and timing.
It's not too long for me to jump to another project.
{Although I have 3 "new" projects waiting for me}

I'm a member of the Modern Quilt Guild!

 

That's right I'm in the game now baby!

 

I signed up as an individual but will gladly join in things when I can. 

 

Oh wait, there IS something is coming up right away!

My own private Idaho

How is it only Tuesday? 

 

I mean I had a long weekend to finally visit my family in Idaho.

 

 

I love this place!

 

I have to say, I'm so proud of my mother -

we decluttered not only her closets but also her quilting magazine pile. 
I only took a fraction of these to even see if I want to keep them.

 

While I was in Idaho I picked up this 

 

 

40-yards of 90" wide.
I'll be tracking the usage on the box!

 

I estimate this will last me 2 years.

My fella rolls his eyes and thinks it will only last a year.

 

But because I committed myself. . I'll be using this UP!

 

9 quilt-tops that are ready to go. . here I come!

Oh and I also picked up foam for a cushion. 
Yeah I'll be looking up many tutorials for this too.

No rest for the crafty!

This week we were working on the star centers

A little bit of sewing 4 nights and I got these beauties done.

I love how these are turning out.

I've worked on it this first part of the month {don't faint}.

Here I am again.

I'm amazed this Quilt Along is sticking with me  ... I'm easily distracted by pretty fabric!

Star Surround QAL - Half Square Triangles
