Liberty Love overload

I'm so happy with my Liberty Stile pillow that I posted about earlier this week.
{Thanks for all the love - it's super helpful with the few weeks I've been having}

Because of some instagram love, I've joined in a new Quilt Along with Penny Poppleton

Working from the awesome book Liberty Love book, I've had this book for awhile and cart it around with me during trips.  I so needed this QAL, okay need isn't the right word :)

Ohhh my it's so fun go check out some of the blog entries so far here.
Penny is giving some fantastic advice to nudge everyone along the way.

So, I'm going to show you some of my progress.

The interview process:
First pull for #marcellemedallion #mmqal Pull #2 #marcellemedallion #mmqal 3rd pull. Now were talking #marcellemedallion #mmqal

First this quadrant

I call this a complete success #medallionalong #mmqal

And then a whole center!

Why yes it's grand #marcellemedallion #mmqal

Ahhhhhhh

I love how this is super fun and seeing how others are working along is totally inspiring.

Go check out the medallion check-in linky here with Penny Poppleton

And I'll continue to show my progress . . once I get a few more nuggets of advice.

Liberty Stile Pillow Challenge

I'm showing the pillow cover I created!

Can you believe that I've never made a pillow cover?

I have now, and I'm in love!
Sew Mama Sew put out a call on their newsletter, and I was chosen to sew up some Liberty Stile fat quarter pillow challenge.

You know the Stile Liberty collection from Liberty Art Fabrics.
When these beauties were fluttering their way into my sewing area the ideas were flowing.
Here they are when they hit my mailbox.
#libertypillowchallenge @sewmamasew and it begins! ♡♥♡♥♡♥

It was only a bit and I created this front.

Liberty Pillow Challenge - Center

I even threw in a little hand stitching in the center.

Oh, and to make it into a pillow with an envelope back ... soooo easy. I used this tutorial  {on Sew Mama Sew - of course}.

Liberty Pillow Challenge - Back

And add piping, also from the tutorial on Sew Mama Sew.
Liberty Pillow Challenge - Back piping

You want to see the front piping, too? Ohhhh, OK.

Liberty Pillow Challenge - Front piping

You can see my echo quilting in this photo.

So it wasn't until I got this entirely finished and I found a little mistake in my block placements, but I don't mind!

I had an issue that I made this pillow cover because I made it for a larger pillow that did not live in my house.  I searched my limited selections in the local area and struck out.  Soooooo I took a standard  sleeping pillow, cut 5 inches from the long side, extracted some of the filling, closed it back up, and tada - pillow form! At 1/3 of the price I may add.

Liberty Pillow Challenge - Front

I'm not the only one who got some fabric!  Head over to Sew Mama Sew and check all of us out! *Next week there will be a re-cap*

Now that it's photographed, my step-daughter has officially claimed it. Ahhh, the pillow is loved.

Threading my way

I was feeling {extremely} guilty when I started to list all of my works in progress (WIP's) on a tracking list I started.
I have a few projects ready to go.

~5 quilt tops with backings ready to go
~5 quilt tops with no backings
~8 with all or nearly all the blocks for a quilt top assembly (with no backings)
~4 others in progress waiting to have some attention.

Lalalalalala

The first step was batting. I posted about the bolt I got here.

Okay how about backings.  Yep got some solids to get this covered.  I posted bout that here.

What was stopping me...ohhh - of course ... thread!

#aurifil in the house. So many praises to Follow That Thread for the amazing prices and shipping. Look I got a box to boot. PS- FtT site has an extra gem that matches kona solids with aurifil colors.

As you know I'm an Aurifil girl.
My Bernina and my Pfaff both love it.

I happened to run out of brown when I was quilting up something
for my mother.
{Hi MOM}

I had to order some more brown.. and while I was at it I {cough} happened to buy more.

These are the last piece to give me noooooo excuses to finish these WIP's up.

I have many praises to Follow that Thread.  Oh and there is an extra on her page that matches the thread colors with kona solids {score}.

Star Surround ~ Pieced quilt top

I finished my Star Surround quilt top.

Isn't this amazing?

Star Surround

This is a lovely large size!

I've loved the timing of this QAL and the instructions are fantastic!

Over in the flickr group I've seen a few other color combinations that I might have to make a new {smaller} one!

Melissa at Happy Quilting provides so many options that it was just too hard to resist.
