Fabric first and then I'm joining Stashtacular

What a lovely way to start the long holiday weekend.  I got my haircut, got to visit with some great friends, get to visit family, and a few fabric store visits to start it all off.  Whoop whoop!

I love looking at these pieces.

The cute novelty prints are lacking in my stash. These are small cuts . .  I see them being somehow involved a few mug rugs.

I'm not sure if my any Pay It Forward giveaway winner gals are into primary colors - but I sure am.

The Kona grey is new too.  I sent that out in my bee packages to my Twice as Nice bee-mates.

I'm entering into a retro green phase again.  I la-la-love these!
I got the yummy vintage looking pattern (3rd from the left) for a backing to a lap-quilt maybe even for something larger (insert super sale). I've been second guessing using it for backing since Wonderfully Awkward posted a pillowcase tutorial.  I so want to make this sometime soon!

Oh look, over there, more Urban Chicks. Do I use this as a cheater fabric, cut it up into the squares, or use it in a pattern as is.  Ohhh the options.

I got 90% of these on sales.

I'm starting to dabble in embroidery and hand quilting.  So I got some perle cotton.  To add to my purples from overseas.

I see these guys all I hear is the Justin Timberlake song. . .
I'm Bringing Sexy Back - yeah!

Oh and I have to say, these match perfectly with the colors I have picked out. I love when a plan comes together!

So I have so much fabric, fabric to sew with, fabric for back quilts, fabric for clothing, fabric for uhh lots of things.  My wonderful fella asked me last night while being subjected to show and tell - 'Why Fabric'?  Oh my precious wonderful man.

What to do next?
I do have to finish some bee blocks (ugh I'm behind in June)

But really, I need to sew from this lovely stash.
What am I gonna do?  I'm needing help.
Jenna from Sew Happy Geek & other's are hosting something I'm desperately in need of.

Stashtacular

So I'm in!
After I redeem a Groupon I have with WhipStitch.  I bought that way back - so it doesn't count.  RIGHT! :)

Oh and there are atrociously large giveaway's involved with this fabric diet Stashtacular event. Who can ask for more, you don't buy AND you can win some in the process.  Oh what smart gals there are in the bloggy world.

Sunday Stash Report- Week 24 of 2011

 .

I've been gone.  My fella and I traveled from our place in Northeast Oregon to Southwest Oregon.  It was a long but good drive!  We got in a grand vacation.  I've never been to so many State Parks in such a short time frame.  The 3 parks we stayed in were great.  I love to see my tax dollars going to good works.

The best experience, which was hard to choose what was the best, was going down into California to see the Redwoods. I feel really small is all I can say.

I proposed that we quit our jobs and I go back to school for Redwoods genetic research. Someone needs to know about the fantastic traits of these plants.  My fella just smiled.

Overall we had a great time. A vacation we got to do anything we wanted.  My fella was so nice and let me stop along the way at any fabric or yarn store I wanted. I stopped at my yarn store Knot Another Hat.  But I also stopped along the coast at The Wool Company in Bandon.

I bought some yarn. These are larger projects but they are pretty simple. We'll see if I get to these soon.

This one is for a "simple" sweater for me.  I've never made anything adult size . . this will be interesting.

And this one is a shawl. . . ohhh pretty.

Just a grand week. I'm looking forward to getting back into my routine and back to my sewing room.  There are fabric projects in my near future.

Sunday Stash Report- Week 23 of 2011

I was thinking I was going to stop filling out these Sunday Stash Reports. . one week gone and here I am again. :) Hi! {waves} Hello again.  I just can't get away.

The last two weeks I got fabric but let me tell you. . I've been good.  Really good - promise.  Not only did I resist many a fabric stores on a 12 hour drive to the west (aka populated) side.  I even walked into my LQS and didn't buy a thing.  All the things that I got came via mail. {Oh darn it}

What I did get from a purchase not too terrible long ago was the Australian prints of the DS Quilts (Denyse Schmidt) collection.  Can you say LOVE!
Cheesy photo above the day I received these fabrics. I couldn't even let them touch the grass.

Here's the entire family together.
This is my future Single Girl Quilt - Queen size
Ahhhhhhhhh

Oh pretty I also got my fabric from my monthly fabric club over at Pink Chalk Fabrics.  I so need to get these into something.  I love what I'm getting from them! I am a solids lover.

I also purchased a surprise box from Cherry House Quilts
I got some lovely things.  Some that I'll dive into myself.  Some that I haven't decided will be gifts just as fabric or in items.  Gotta love it.

What I've made?

Letter E

Scarf
that I wore to the 2-year old's party that received above mentioned E

I am working on other stuff.  Oh this is why I veered from these. I'm depressed. :)

Sunday Stash Report- Week 21 of 2011

My word how can it be the END of May? I'm another year older and boy-howdy are there some plans in store for this year! I've had a lovely time this week as I spent the first few days bouncing around on SMS giveaways.  I found soooo many more distractions.  I talked to a grade school friend who wanted some crafting advice - which I still need to find more tutorials.  Oh and I even cleaned my sewing space.  Yep I even worked a bit.

While I was traveling in the Bend area this week I finally made it to The Stitching Post in Sisters, Oregon.  What a grand little store this is.  The Stitching Post is quilting famous because of the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show & Jean Wells and Valori Wells.  You know the book writers, patterns, and fabric designer.  Right here in my back yard.  The gals there were nice.  I could see the stress level starting to gain speed because the show is right around the corner.  At least a few of the gals were SUPER nice. I gladly picked up a few items there.  I had to pick up some Heather Ross - 50% off and then this lovely Alexander Henry Fabrics for a modified 241 Tote.  Yeah.

Oh I also got the package I purchased from the lovely Heather at { House } of A La Mode I've been stalking her Etsy for her destash.  I was lucky enough to be at the computer when she put things up.  I adore the network of friends she has gathered in this community, the projects she finishes, and that she lives in Oregon.

I've been working on my bee's I'll post those tomorrow.  I have a few finishing touches on blocks today.  It's raining (again) and it's a perfect day to sew.

Sunday Stash Report- Week 19 of 2011

It's my birthday month!  Therefore these are birthday things.  Okay not all of them.

Instead of sending coupons from Oregon to Indiana and sending my dearest sister on a wild chase, I tried one last time to find the DS Quilt fabrics "locally" So I drove 1.5 hours after work to my last known JoAnn's.  It was actually really nice during the weekday in the 'big city'.

With this. . I have it ALL!  Okay all that's available from the US.  Now on to Spotlight in New Zealand.

So I went to JoAnn's and then went to Craft Warehouse where they were having a super sale of quality quilting fabrics on sale from $6.00-$3.00/yard.  See. . too much stuff of potentials!

Oh and then it's my monthly fabrics from Pink Chalk Fabrics.
OMG!  It's perfect this month.
Purples and grey's = LOVE

I didn't sew. . as we are painting our place. . sooooooo much work. I need to go back to my job to rest.
So my weekly confessional is below. . . .

Sunday Stash Report- Week 18 of 2011

It's the start of something beautiful!  I have a summer planning list {I'll post this tomorrow}

I have some more lovely fabrics in my stash.

Since I'm so tired of driving I've postponed my trips to Portland or Boise {sorry Mom!!}.  I 'had' to buy these fabrics for my Japanese Fabric Swap.  Which is totally true because I don't have such fabrics in my stash.  This is why I'm participating in this swap.  The flickr group is gonna show some amazing things. . go check it out

These fabrics also came in my order..adore Urban Chicks.
I love the different colorways in the same pattern.
I'm thinking borders for some blocks.

Oh and these two awesome Joel Dewberry prints.  I have more purple now. I also adore Joel Dewberry anything.

And during my multiple trips to Walla Walla, WA I went ahead and I stopped by Jo-Ann's and picked up these awesome magazines.  No fabric purchases.

Here's all my loot for this weeks stash report.

Sunday Stash Report- Week 17 of 2011

This is the real week 17.  Apparently the counting got off somewhere.  It's May 1 and it really is the 17th week of the year.  How time flies.

You know what I did this this. . I didn't buy any fabric! GOLD STAR FOR ME!

I must admit, I did try.  I'm now enlisting my poor sister to go to JoAnn's in her state to find me more DS Quilts fabric.  My stupid stores, within a 2.5 hour radius of my house (aka local) don't carry more than the same 5 prints of this line.

So, I didn't add anything to my stash. I didn't sew anything from my stash. I did finish out my month for the few on-line flickr bee's I'm participating in.  Here's a run down of April

{Modern 12} - Yummy Kitchen Window blocks. This is from Elizabeth Hartman's inspiration, she blogs over at Oh, Fransson!  It's been fun to see the variations of this theme.  This is my block I made for the April queen bee.

Threadheads - Lindsey introduced me to a Dresden Plate. There were a few issues within the group talking about traditional and modern blocks.

All in all, the Dresden Plate will always have a special place in my heart.  I think Lindsey is an amazing woman who I can learn from of how to handle a bad situation and make it something wonderful.

Look at these amazing colors.  The center block didn't fit on mine, but Lindsey said she'll fix that when it arrives at her house.  LOVE these blocks!

Okay not only do I love these blocks but my 11-year old step-daughter loves them too.  And while we've been out doing things or visiting folks, she's the one that points out these are all around us.  I'm impressed my own passion is something she is enjoying participating in, even in small ways.

We used the Dresden Plates tutorial's on Sew Mama Sew. AND Lindsey also added some helpful information, some extra steps that Elizabeth didn't picture, on her own website through this mini-tutorial

Aqua &Orange Bee- wonky log cabins from Quilt Dad. I already blogged about these here (last month-hee hee).  Yeah for fun colors!

Twice as Nice - We made ticker tape blocks.  We mostly used the tutorial created by Crazy Mom Quilts for Sew Mama Sew.  The colors we were sent made these blocks a lot of fun.

The sewing of each piece of fabric did take some time but nothing that I couldn't accomplish for two blocks in one month.  I'm not sure if I could accomplish this on my own project without it sitting around forever. And I got these done before April finished!

That's all for this month.  I did sign-up for two more bee's. I'm just crazy! Next month will be more blocks but since I already have some of the fabrics, it should be a nice paced for such a great time of year. I'm so happy to be using new growing talent to participate in a community of amazing women.

On with the stash report. . .

Sunday Stash Report- Week 17 of 2011

This week has been so long but so short.  I have no clue where the days really went.  It's been a great time just in the past few days because I got some of my bee commitments finished. I'm thinking that I am sure in enough bee's and swap's for the moment.  It's near the end of the month and WOW!

I finished one block that's 12.5x16.5 out of my own stash {more on this block later}.

I also tired my first pillowcase.  How fun.  I'll be looking for a few more tutorials.  How fun! I did this because I was looking through my blogs and found Karamat.  And then found this pillowcase tutorial.  So I gave it a whirl.  Voila a pillowcase is born.

A pillowcase that my mother would love. . I use these fabrics my mother so willingly parted with while I was building my stash. I love my mom!

This week I get to account for an order I put in a few weeks back.  I got this from Kerri at Sew Dearly Loved.  I got my package and I knew I got some linen, Heather Ross precious items, and red riding hood fabric.  This fabric is illustrated by Ariel of pocketfulofpinwheels.  FUN!

Okay but then I didn't remember what else I ordered. I'm a goof I can't even remember what I ordered. And it was something good! Lizzy House's Castle Peeps. YEAH.

I'm so happy all of these things are in my stash.  I'm wondering what I'll actually do with the precious fabric.  Will they sit or will I actually be able to cut into them?

Sunday Stash Report- Week 16 of 2011

*This is a post of some of my favorites *

Well. . . Seriously I'm just drawn in by what this quilt blogging community is a buzzing about.  The newest Denyse Schmidt line that is being carried in JoAnn stores.  My JoAnn's store only had these five prints.  Rest assured I'll be stalking other JoAnn stores in my travels within the next few months.  I'm even on the DS flickr group now. . and am TOTALLY bummed that Australia is getting a different colorway than what has been released in the US.  I may be purchasing some of these through Etsy.  {I'm shocked at myself} This is my future Single Girl Quilt!  I've joined the QAL earlier this year but just couldn't find the fabrics that grabbed me.  But, here there are-yeah.

No surprise here: Sherbet Pips designed by Aneela Hoey.  She blogs over at Comfort Stitching.  But can you believe she already has an amazing new line planned called Little Apples that she has sleekly shown on blog post. This is a splurge waiting to happen.

So splurge here.

Splurge there.

Everywhere a splurge splurge.
{This is for my Amy Butler Birdie Sling that I'll make *soon*}

Seriously. .

Some of these is for some new bee's I've joined through flickr, for Aqua &Orange and then also another one  Aqua and Red Block Bee.  Some of the fabrics for my months for these groups. Yes, I'm just trying to convince myself there is a reason for this total madness. But when I look at the above photo, there is only two items I don't have a definite project that it will be used in - weird.

It isn't shown in these numbers, but I really have been working on so many things.  My self-imposed system is to report out only when things are finished.  Here's to being positive soon.

Okay just stop reading now. . below are shocking numbers

Sunday Stash Report- Week 15 of 2011

I love Heather Ross! I love Heather Ross!  I finally own some of her fabrics.

Around a year ago, I was randomly looking through photos.  I found Film in the Fridge.  She's nothing but amazing in my eyes.  I fell in love with a few of her quilts and then I saw the one called far far away 2 quilt and then I was introduced to Heather Ross.  Yep some amazing stuff she's got going on.  So why has it taken me an entire year to buy some of her fabric?  Becuase I can't seem to find it locally.  I finally broke down and purchased the above from fabricworm and more will be coming my way this next week from sew dearly loved

I suppose it makes my stash so much more complete. Just need a bit of Sherbet Pips and I'll be set for the year--with these numbers I sure hope so!

I was traveling again.  I went to a few stores which were lovely.  I just didn't find something that I NEEDED.  Instead I picked up a few yards of this and that to continue to build my stash.

No real progress on anything.  Doesn't help that my postage stamp quilt is out for the making and the love just isn't there.  Is it the weather or the constant traveling. . I'm not sure.  So to lift my spirits, I've joined another swap. I've breaking out some citrus colors, from my stash, for the new SpRiNg CiTRuS sURpRisE sWAp!!   Come over and look at the rules. . it's a great swap to start off with. I'll use some of the greens that I just purchased.

Oh I might have bought some HELLO KITTY!  Oh how FUN! I have no clue why I get hooked on things. But it's Hello Kitty the last few years.  Kitty Chan - as it is called in Japan.  I'm 34 (for another month) and I'm still into this stuff.  Is this good?

When I got back for my travels I had this months  fabric from Pink Chalk Fabrics was at my doorstep.  This month it's a mixture of fabrics is kinda dark but they are pretty solids.  Yep, my automatic happiness to arrive in my mailbox every month. Lovely stash builders. Especially when it's colors I don't automatically pick up. . these are the best because they are the best to contract what I have in my stash.  Balancing color is one thing that I'm learning.  Le'sigh.

So the damage is:
