New tasks & WIP Wednesday

I got a promotion at work.

Awesome right.
Well it's true, I'm pretty proud.

And now that it's started I've lost track of time and space.  I have no clue what day it is or when deadlines are approaching or whizzing by my head.

I am not that bad but wow...I have an appreciation for my management now.

Last week alone was a super long week for both my fella and I.  It felt like 72 hours for every 24 hours.  And there was no extra sleep! This week feels the same sadly.

~~~
So when the weekend rolled around, my little family were all on the same page.  We need to unwind.
My fella immersed himself in his new hobby .. model building
I'm not the only one with hobbies.    We've had one of the longest weeks it's just time to relax
And my wonderful step-daughter is continuing on her path of baking up a storm.
Here is the teenlet's hobby. We may eat this at noon...maybe
Hear the complaining...
And this is what we were waiting for. I love having a baker in the house.
yeah us either!
Even I got to unwind and do some quilting.
Prepping quilts to send to a long armer somehow triggers me to do oh so much more. This is #notmyALYoFgoal
Actually a lot!
The above beauty is done and has the binding on it.  Just waiting for moments to hand stitch that down.
Quilt in transit to the awesome long arm quilter @orchidowlquilts
And I sent off a package to Orchid Owl Quilts.
I'm super excited to see this one as it's MINE!  None of this going away .... stuff.
The previous quilt I sent to Vicki hasn't been blogged about yet.
I've posted a few photos in Instagram.
I'll do a real post once that's done for real ...ya know - later.
This sending a new package has been a month in the process... but it may have been promoted by Melissa at Sew BitterSweet Designs sending off her June ALYoF projects off to Vicki.  I don't have a problem with competition...{cough}...noooo!
~~~

I'm so excited to share that I'm working on my MQG Michael Miller Fabric challenge quilt.

Practice has this wierd way of morphing into something that eventually looks pretty awesome. #michaelmillerchallenge #mqgfabricchallenge

I'm finally having fun with this FMQ stuff.

Happy quilting to you!

WIP Wednesday 11.28.12

Remember how I said I kicked it this weekend. . I did!

I made a few blocks.  4 to be exact but after I took the photos of 2 of them, I realized that I put the corners on WRONG.  Sigh.

But I will share the two that I pieced together correctly :)

Rail Fence - Curve it Up QAL Block 2

These are from the Curve it Up QAL from Sew Kind of Wonderful.

Rail Fence - Curve it Up QAL Block 1

I followed the amazing tutorial for the Curved Rail Fence found over here.

I loved these. They are HUGE blocks when finished.  So much fantastic inspiration over at the flickr group. I know that I have 2 started but I want a few other color ways in this now.

I worked on another curve project with the Quick Curved Ruler, but I'm going to share that with you this weekend or next week during the giveaway week from Sew Mama Sew. I have been kicking it - really really.

What else am I working on?

I'll be working from my works in progress (WIP) list from the 100-day hustle including:
Knitted baby blanket - so slow it hasn't been out the bag in a week
Quilt-top for the friends toddler - halfway quilted. . lalala STILL
Commission quilt - slow but steady
PJ pants for fella - no a lick on this one
Quilt top put together from Block Party - lalalala
Matching sock to a lone sock - what . . what is this?
    I'm linking up to Lee over at Freshly Pieced for WIP Wednesday.

    WIP Wednesday 11.21.12

    I love when I have a few hours that I have free and that I actually get to accomplish something.

    Monday I finally FINALLY FINALLY
    finished my postage stamp quilt.

    The top is DONE! Yippee!

    Because of when the sun sets and all that jazz I can't seem to find a good time to take a photo.  Oh and it's been raining like it's the west side - yuck! :)

    I'm in shock and awe that I finally got something checked off my list for the 100-day hustle.
    I really do love lists . .
    I think.

    I'll be working on more projects this weekend - yipee!
    I may do a sew-in with Becky that blogs over at Solar Threads.
    She is so talented!  And sewing may (or may not) prevent me from spending money.

    I'll be working from my works in progress (WIP) list from the 100-day hustle including:
    Knitted baby blanket - slowly but surely
    Quilt-top for the friends toddler - halfway quilted. . lalala
    Commission quilt - this is up NEXT BABY!
    PJ pants for fella - going to have my fella help me with this one!
    Quilt top put together from Block Party
    Matching sock to a lone sock

    Other projects that I'm working on but not on the above list includes my stripper row - love my private strip club! A few holiday gifts.
    AND I get to make fabric napkins.  .super excited!

    WIP Wednesday 6.20.12

    It's been awhile since I've linked up to Lee over at Freshly Pieced.  With my brain absorbing  the changes of life including but not limited to: my laptop dying, on-line bee's ending, garden needing to be tended to, summer coming at us like a lion where my step-daughter will be back and forth visiting her mother.

    It's time for me to link up again to Works in Progress (WIP) Wednesday with Lee over at Freshly Pieced. I haven't done this for way too long but it's time to take account again.

    Finished projects:

    - Clean sewing area - seriously it's amazing to see the floor again!  I of course didn't bring in a new trash bag so small pieces of fabric are already starting to gather.
    - Bee Blocks!  I'm finishing up my bee commitments but still have a few going on.    I ran out of fabric - gasp!  But more is making it's way to my mailbox as we speak.

    Oh did I show you this one yet?  The Orange you Glad bee I was able to sew for The Pewter Acorn

    Orange you Glad - June '12
    Everything was cut so well I didn't even blink and this block was done.

    New projects:

    - Packaged up bee blocks for July for the awesome bee group {Sew Bee It} - the last time I'll be mailing out for myself in 2012.
    - Wedding wall-hanging for my fella's peeps.  I'm doing a New York Beauty!

    Active WIP:

    - Pay it Forward items
    - May Bee Blocks: Bee a Lone Star(burst)
    - June Bee Blocks: Bee a Lone Star(burst)
    - Layer Cake quilt-top {hanging on my design wall . . lalalalala}
    - Knitted Socks ~ my first pair baby! I'm even on the second one.
    - Knitted baby blanket for Lou
    Back-Burner WIP:

    - Postage Stamp quilt.
    - PJ pants for fella
    - Twice as Nice quilt top
    - Threadheads quilt-top
    - Aqua and Red (Round 1) quilt-top
    - Waiting for blocks for: Aqua and Red (Round 2), Sew Modern Bee, and Aqua and Orange - then all of these will are offically back-burner WIP's too!

    This week's stats:
    Finished projects - ~3
    New Projects - 2
    Currently in progress - lalalalala

    Hope all is going well in your neck of the woods.

    Mid-Summer 2011 Summer Projects Check-in and WIP Wednesday 8.10.11

    Did I say that I love lists?
    Yep - love them.
    I had to resist some awesome fun things going on around me.  Although throw a bee at me, mug rug swap, or another bloody QAL - and I'm in.

    Right - where was I . . .
    yes - lists rock!

     I made this list while it didn't feel like summer.  That was a whole 3 months ago. . pfft.  At the time these felt like very reasonable goals.  Especially when I don't have my 11-year old stepdaughter and I have all the time in the world.
    NOT
    I did join in Fairy face Design's Summer Sewing Plans.
    I posted about it HERE
    FairyFace Designs
    Here's a recap of how I've progressed through my list:

    1. Dresden Plate fabric for bee.  Uhhh not sure right now.

    2. Finish {Modern 12} quilt top. . nope still hanging on my design board

    3. Sliced Coins QAL quilt top .. nope still in a neat cute pile

    4. Knitted sweater for a gf's baby girl. . . no but I've looked at it a few times.

    5. Summer top for me. . nope

    6. PJ Pants for fella. . lalalala I can't hear you.  {That's a no}

    Ice Cream Dress Back7. Summer Dress for gf's baby girl . . YES!  See my previous posts here or here
    Ohhhh Pretty dress!

    8. Postage Stamp Quilt. . don't even want to see this
    September - Aqua and Red test block

    9. Choose blocks for my remaining bee's.  YES!  I've done most of this.

    I even whipped up a test block for a bee next month.

    10. Birdie Sling .. sigh - no

    Blocks for "baby" quilt

    11. Baby quilt . . no but I got 2 blocks worked on.  Yippee!

    Wow. . well for only 11 things I've not touched as many as I hoped just 3 months ago.  But this list is grand and does remind me of my WIP's.

    How are your summer plans going?

    Finishing up all my July Bee Blocks . . . aka WIP Wednesday 7.27.11

    For starting out behind the 8-ball for this month. . I've made it my mission to not fall behind again.  My own projects (which I don't have that much passion for right now) are sitting.  But it doesn't mean that I can't work with other people's fabric to make them some wonderful blocks.

    What have I done?  I've made myself (really some other gals) some blocks!

    This bee is a shortened time-frame (which feels great) but that means we have two lovely gals to sew for each month.

    July - Aqua and Red Bee July - Aqua and Red Bee
    These two beauties are what I made up for toerintx.

    One of her inspirations is Fairy Face Design's Dresden quilt

    I really enjoyed working on these.  Oh the things I learned along the way.  These are way different than "traditional" Dresden plates with the leaves. I might say harder.
    ~~~
    The second gal for this bee was the lovely tinkingalong had us make anything we wanted with her yummy aqua and red fabrics.
    July - Aqua and Red Bee July - Aqua and Red Bee
    I did this flying geese block but then had enough left over for another block.  Only after I finished the blocks did I read the instructions asking for no wonky.
    Sorry beauty.  I must say that I'm not a wonky lover myself but this blocks has enough for me not to feel dizzy.
    This month we got to sew for Fairly Mairly
    July - Threadheads
    She chose a block inspired from Block Party.
    July - ThreadheadsJuly - ThreadheadsShe even made an awesome tutorial. After reading this a few times, I had to wrap my head around the freezer paper was just a ruler. . nothing to do with paper-piecing.
    WOW.  I so want to keep these.  I love the purple, I love the Joel Dewberry fabrics.  And I'm so interested how she'll put these together.  If you go to this group you can only imagine what the possibilities are for these blocks.
    July - {Sew Bee It}The wonderful Say Yes Juliet {her blog is here} has started off this bee.
    July - {Sew Bee It}How grand to make cross blocks for her.  These were fun and OH the creations everyone has made!
    I have to say that these are my favorite gals to sew for. I'm biased as I know a few of them personally and I twitter with a few of them.  I am in awe of ALL their talent each and every one of them. And this is only the beginning.
    That's what I've being up to.  Go check out my July Bee Block photo set.  There you can get a re-cap of all my creations that I rocked this month.
    I did finish up some bee blocks and also put a huge dent in a few others.
    July - Aqua & OrangeJuly - Aqua & OrangeHere's the two blocks for the Queen Bee in Aqua & Orange
    That's right. . another set of garden fences.  These are lovely and I love how quick they come together.
    What are the chances that in two bee's the ladies choose the same block.  Oh how fun!
    Monday was a busy day as I also had to finish up a flower for a few bee blocks.  There were some awesome fabric flowers but I decided I wanted to knit something up for Issabella the Cat.
    WIP Wednesday 6.29.11
    .
    What a week, traveling to Portland, Oregon for work again. It always throws me for a loop. I wasn't pleased traveling again.  So I had to console myself with a trip to Fabric Depot.
    It was lovely, as always.  I picked up some Kona grey which one?  I don't remember!  It's the dark one.  :)
    I promptly cut up for the Queen bee blocks I sent out.  Yep, that's what I've been doing.  Bee things.
    Finished:
    Sending out blocks for my month being Queen Bee
    A few bee blocks
    Like these two!
    June - Twice as Nice
    Anna wanted 1.5" postage stamp blocks.  She sent such lovely fabric.  I was happy to make these.  I was impressed my attention to seams made these two blocks go together so quickly.  My own postage stamp quilt is a WIP because my attention to detail wasn't as grand.
    I did buy the Farmers Wife book. . another QAL in my future
    WIP Wednesday 6.8.11
    Oh there has been a lot o' happening around these parts.  Not much craft love.
    This weekend my fella was my superman. He not only planted the blueberry bush but prepped the garden spot.  The garden wants are a bit larger than the spot I have available.
    I hope overall it will work.
    Here's the result of the weekend prep plus Monday planting bonanza.
    Monday I set out to do a lot of things.
    Most of them accomplished.
    One of the big items were to go through my many flickr groups.
    I wanted to find the bloggers that I'm participating in bee's with and make sure that I'm following their blogs.
    I was missing a few peeps, but not anymore.
    Here I am wandering again.
    I've started two new virtural flickr bee's.
    {Sew Bee It}
    &
    New Bee on the Block
